How did your approach look before GanttPRO?
Before GanttPRO was discovered, Tim used a construction project management software: “Previously, we used Buildertrend. My crew already had plenty of work to do, so they weren’t using things like daily reporting. My customers didn’t log in for anything other than scheduling, and not one of my subcontractors used it. It ended up being more cost and more functionality than we needed from a management tool.
Tim also tried Asana but it was too complicated: “I was also looking for something that combined a Gantt chart with Trello-style lists so that everything would be in one place and Asana seemed to be a good fit. However, it was so complicated that in the end, it was just easier to stick with Trello alone.”
Solution
“It’s a strategic kind of tool for us. Our workflow starts with signing a contract, getting all the details together, and creating a schedule. We usually plan two to three months in advance because that’s the best way to approach work in this industry, and a Gantt chart is just the perfect way to do that.
We also base our pricing on the schedule and how long everything is going to take. Then we present it to the homeowner, and instead of asking what stage we’re currently on, they can access GanttPRO and check the progress directly.”
